To be fair, most of the Final Fantasy games are very different from each other. However by the looks of it this might as well be called FFXI-2.

Which Final Fantasys were like that?

Nice. If anything though this one is one of the more similar FFs. Naturally its reminiscent of FFXI. The names are a bit silly but I like the designs.

its not just final fantasy games but square enix games in general, when most of their games fall into one of two brackets: RPG with turn based combat (FF, lost odysy, last remnant), or hack and slash (drakenguard etc less of these than the former).

The only major differences gameplay wise between all the FFs are sometimes they use pure turnbased systems, other times they use the time system like FF7.

oh and sometimes you get to change their clothes

FF10 is the only one i have enjoyed and that was purely for story since i watched my brother play it rather than me.

i think the main thing i thouroughly dispise about FF games is spending hours fighting the same god dam blobs, or wolf things, or bird things, or plant things, but with slightly different colours to be strong enough to take part in the only fun fights in the game

any time a game becomes a chore, i stop playing it

But in essence each of the later games is very different. FFVII had the materia system, FFVIII the junction system, FFIX the equipment system and FFX the Sphere Grid system.

Of course any genre of games, when you boil them down, can be made to look similar, but I don't think the FF series is guilty of being too repetetive in terms of gameplay.

And in terms of character design...

There are some very interesting ones.

    I hate MMORPGs
I wish FF wouldn't try with it, but I guess being asian it has to accommodate that market.

It's still coming. It should come out just before XIV. Since XIV is online, it's quite different so they are releasing it around the same time as XIII.

Lost Odyssey wasn't a Square Enix game. Yeah they are known for JRPGs more than anything else, but so what? There's loads of other developers that have a specific genre they specialise in. And you've got to remember it's a Japanese company, and it's a very popular genre there. Square Enix as a publisher is branching out now anyway. Batman Arkham Asylum is now technically a Square Enix game as they recently bought Eidos. They also recently published a WWII strategy game.

Meh. Looks cookie cutter, design wise. Hopefully we'll see some more varied/customisable models soon.
