Any French Rev experts out there?
Currently doing a referral coursework for Uni and got lumbered with a lovely 5000 word essay! Not as bad as it sounds as the information is easily accessable. However, the question in hand was how did the Europe of 1789 differ from the Europe of 1871?
What would you say is the major differences are? I'm trying to make sure I stay on topic rather than going off on one about the actual reveolution or the Napoleonic Wars etc.

Do you know which areas you want to talk about? Just putting the question is a bit broad! I'd say hone in on the changes the revolution and the twenty years war brought about in Europe... You can trace things like popular nationalism, the rise of Germany, socialism, republicanism, etc. back to the Revolution in France...

Are we talking politically, socially, economically, culturally etc etc? There are so many different ways that this question could be taken - you could talk about the issues Alasdair raised or you could talk about the way in which European society changed, the way in which European culture changed - for instance things like the growth of public museums owes a lot to the French Revolution and its aftermath - or how the economic system of Europe was reformulated with changes to trade as well as the development of industrialisation.
