    Hi,

I'm going into year 13 this coming semester and live in Hong Kong. I'm looking into applying for Aberystwyth and it's my first choice. I know this is kind of early but I was wondering what does it take to join Aberystwyth's American football team? I've played football here in Hong Kong for almost 2 years now, and have some experience.

I believe I have a good deal of skill, but I'm just a little concerned about the fitness levels. How fit do you have to be? I'm planning to train all next year so I will be prepared for trying out for the team.

    Any helpful info or tips?
    Thanks alot

My mate is in the team, to be honest I wouldn't say you have to train that much in preparation lol. They train quite a lot there and you'll have to pay for kit to join, etc. but I wouldn't worry too much. No offence to them but they're not exactly an amazing team, they win rarely lol.

Don't they always seem to start a right with the rugby lot at Reload?

In Biology Main someone has written "TARRANAU" on the desk, to which someones added "Are a bunch of girls - play a real sport" :rofl2:

hahaha well im sure there will be some conflict with rugby, i mean its been a debate going on pretty much ever since both sports were started. I personally love american football, but I also think rugby is a pretty tough game.

I'm sure in the uk I might be in the minority though

Are they that bad now. I was a coach with the American Football team in Aber back in the mid-nineties, we won every game without any team scoring any points on us until the post-season. The team got to the final but lost to those sporting specialists at Loughbrugh.

I appreciate both American football and rugby, both good sports, both tough, but do not think that gridiron players are "a bunch of girls" because they wear kit, the impacts in American football are harder and more head on than is often the case in rugby. As my coach from the states used to say "The lid (helmet) is to protect you the rest is weaponry"

Shame the team is not doing so well, wonder if they need an old special teams coach back with them!
