Hey, I will be applying for English Literature courses for 2010/11 entry and I am hoping to send off my application in October. If I send off my application at this time, how long should it take for me to recieve a reply?

It depends on where you apply.

I'm definitely applying to Gloucestershire, Liverpool John Moores and Salford, and maybe Manchester Metropolitan. I could also apply to UCLAN as a fifth university. Cheers anyway.

Well as I didn't apply to any of them I couldn't tell you for definite, but it ranges from like a week to a couple of months maybe. Some unis are faster than others.

I had all of my offers by December, but many of my friends were waiting much longer for theirs

Probably sooner back than I did. I sent mine off in early December and got most of them back in just over a month. In fact, Sheffield replied to me in 4 days which I thought was amazing. Although I did have to wait over 2 months for my #1 choice to get back to me. It got so far I was in the final choice phase. Got rejected though. Oh well, I think I will enjoy Sheffield even more. Funny that, I put it down on my application 10 minutes before sending it off as I had an extra space to fill. Never thought that would be my firm choice...

Thanks, these are some really helpful responses. It's Gloucestershire I want to go to, as I love Cheltenham. I'm from Manchester, so I could choose Salford or even Liverpool John Moores if I want to be near my parents. I have already produced a first draft of my personal statement, so I hope that will put me at an advantage.
