Okay, they needed a BBB or a CAB with the C in advanced higher maths, and the AB in two highers. In either of these options, Advanced Higher Computing was exempt from it (for computer science, weird, guess they want to see my other subject skills).

So I got a BBBC, with the C in Higher Art, so I'm just ONE grade short. I got a B in the prelim, so I could appeal?

What should I do? I've been accepted into my insurance, but I really want my firm choice. What is the best course of action to take? I'm a sixth year student btw, who didn't do superb last year and Edinburgh made it quite clear that they definitely want what they specified, but is it possible they'll take some almost equal equivalent?

    I appreciate all advice.

A slip of a single grade probably won't matter especially as you're applying for Computer Science and it was Art.

I believe from what they said they got one of the Bs in a subject the uni wasn't willing to take into consideration.

Yeah I got the B in computer science, which isn't included in the CAB or BBB combinations, only mu other three subjects, AH Maths, and Highers Art and Physics. ******* ART let me down with that C, but I got a B in the prelim as I said, for written anyway. Which MIGHT boost my mark.

I love art. Sorry about your C though I would try appeal. I noticed in SG, art most art appeals were quite sucessful - not sure if its the same about higher. Also, contact your uni, they may consider letting you in anyway. And tell them you're trying to appeal.

No, face it - you're not good enough.

You better sign up for the doll as soon as possible - every day you don't you're throwing away your only source of income for the future.

    Okay Heva

By appeal I mean getting help from my Art teacher to tell the SQA I was B material based on my prelim and perhaps other work. Thing about Art it's its so difficult to judge what grade your work gets.

Edinburgh are pretty adamant on admissions and basicly your offer is the final decission :O

However I had this descussion with my teacher before I sat my exams and she explained to me that you can get whats called a "quick appeal" which they try to hammer through so you can meet your offer I've also heard of people doing this and it succeding. So I would get in contact with the uni and the school to organise an appeal and then the uni should gladely accept you =D

    Hope this helps.

Has it come up on track that Edinburgh have rejected you, or is it still pending?
As if they've already processed you as a rejection then there is relatively little that you can do now as they will have looked at the grades you've achieved and decided that okay, yes, you did only narrowly miss the offer but they're still going to say no. Which is generally the case with Edinburgh as they don't really budge on their entry requirements. However, as the person above said you could attempt to appeal to the examiners and try and get a remark on your paper given that you got a B in your prelims. You'd need to be really quick about this though and it would be done through your school, and I think you would have to pay and obviously be prepared that the grade might not change.

You cant get remarks in Scotland, just so you know OP.

^That's not strictly true, the OP can appeal for Art and quite possibly get a B grade fit for the entry requirements.

On what grounds are you considering appealing?
