Asked this on General Uni forum but was told it was specific to the uni :p:

My friend will be starting this year and he said he was to pay £30 for a pass but he can take friends with him
    Is that true?

I just don't want to go with him to be told I'm not allowed in so I'd need to go home myself, have a cuppa and watch some Father Ted in my PJs whilst he's out having a good time :p:

No, you need a Fresher's pass to go to the unions in Fresher's week and only freshers can buy them. Not even other students can go.

When he joins a union after Fresher's week, he'll be able to bring a friend and sign them in.
Do you agree with the PM's proposal to cut tuition fees for some courses?
