If you were going to take up a new hobby, for socialising, fitness and fun, which of these would you do?
Or which of these do you already do and enjoy? :p:

EDIT: OH apparently I was meant to post this in 'Chat' instead of 'General Discussion'. I DO apologise mods, but frankly I would have posted it in 'Chat' but I couldn't get 'Chat' to work. However, I would like to 'generally discuss' hobbies with fellow TSR members. I can't believe I'm paying for this ¬_¬
    nevermind eh :woo:

    I reckon that:

    a) modern dance would be best for socializing.

    b) tennis would be best for fitness, and

    c) horseriding would be by far the most fun.

    Can you see why?

    squish.

I'm too self conscious for dance, and horse riding is expensive (though very very fun) and when I did it I didn't find it that social.

I would say badminton- very social, very fun, cheap. Close second is horseriding.

Also I'm just gonna put this out there- yoga is awesome :]

Well, I do modern and that's a lot of fun. I really want to take up tap at the moment, I've had a few classes but nothing serious.

I've taken workshops in street dance, salsa, bellydancing, bollywood, ballet and jazz. Dancing is definitely the best way to go; there's a certain camaraderie in knowing you all look a little dumb (it's inevitable), it's great for fitness and it can improve timing, hand-eye coordination and posture. Basically you can't go wrong.

My sister teaches Modern, good bunch of people go there, all have pretty much become good close mates, and the sis always says if you're going to start dancing there, bring a friend, cant fault the advice, makes sense to me!

I've done the horse thing, and it's something you've gotta be really dedicated to, so I wouldn't do that again.
I hate tennis, with a passion.

I'd either do a fitness class or street dancing class - the street dancing sounds most like me.

Well, I've tried/done all of those at some point - but now only keep up with squash (all the time) as well as 'fitness/aerobics classes' (weekly) ,and the occassional game of tennis. So what I think is ...
-Dance (solo) is the most fun, best for socialising, and the fundamental skills you learn are great bonuses for everyday life (i.e. clubbing!).
-Ballet is great and gives you more flexibility and innate sense of poise, grace balance etc. but is hard, there's more pressure, and it's far more rigorous than anything else.
-Dancing with a partner, even if you can force/drag your boyfriend or friend along with you, can be a bit weird as you usually have to switch partners throughout the class and can end up face to face with a weirdo at points :P.
-I didn't like Horseriding once it started getting hard/fast, but I have plenty of friends who love it. Plus it's the most expensive and the equipment is too.
    - Tennis will always be a great social skill!

    Hope that helps

To OP, do squash! :ninja: Hmm, i swear i've seen you around somewhere ... missaphrodite .. i'm sure i've seen that name somewhere! :s:

Tennis. Horse riding sounds fun. I did it once when I was a kid. Tennis seems to be good as it's more common and there are more clubs etc. for it.

You really do frequent these boards dear Lefty ... :cookie:

I'm a huge fan of Crevasse Diving. Basically it's like a cross between skiing and cliff diving. Everyone stands at the top of a glacier and jumps, the first to reach the bottom wins. Personally I'm put off by the high mortality rate. It's supposedly the most dangerous sport in the world - but it does stop anyone dominating the sport and makes a new world champion every week ...

... if not after every race.

I'd do tennis, because I love it. And horses are terrifying.
Dance would be quite fun though.

I'd take up ballet because I've always wanted to do it. I quit dancing (modern and tap) when I was around 11, kinda regret it. Also, I've done tennis and horse riding in the past.
