True speech but still not liking a limit on the number of kids you can have. I'd pack my bags and be out of there faster than you can recite the words to the spongebob squarepants theme tune!
Come up with a better way to limit population. No medicine for dying people? Kill everyone over 70? IMO this is the best way to do it, if you are really desperate for more kids you can adopt them. Obviously there are problems with it, but it's not a permanent solution.

Well, they've shot 'emselves in the foot they have. They're scheduled to hit an insane demographic timebomb fairly soon unless they relax the one child policy. In fact, depending on how severe the results of the time bomb are, and the level of preparation in place (which, tbh, isn't going to be great considering rural infrastructure), I'd say it could face the biggest challenge to the Communist party's Iron fist.

Will be interesting to see it play out.

Also, what's with the slew of 'Good.' replies? It would be great if people put some thought and effort into their replies.

400 million births prevented isn't a bad thing, as first there was no baby for them to abort, second it usually means they are wearing safety, and lastly, 400 million babies will take up space they really don't have

All the better, a cure for cancer would royally **** up our exploding population. Can't have even more people living...

    Nothing wrong with that.

They kill the girls and keep the boys to carry on the family name....problem: there are simply not enough females for the males so the population number will eventually decline too rapidly...its not a long term solution...

For those opposing the Chinese policy I pose this question:

To what purpose should people freely be allowed to keep reproducing? We're expending the world's resources enough as it is. The sooner ALL countries adopt a child limitation policy the better. As the third child out of four in my own family, I recognise that this would mean that it is unlikely that I would be born if this policy was in place.

But I'd rather not exist than live in the future overpopulated, overstretched world we're inevitably going to end up living in if the liberal do-gooders have their way about things. It's time people started thinking of the world and communities at large instead of their own selfish personal ambitions. It doesn't matter if you're maternal by nature or if you have the "right" to have seven children... you need to learn restraint.

I heard China and now trying to encourage people to have more than 1 child now but people don't want to because they say its harder to finance 2 children or more. Now China are going to possibly suffer from an aging population, and have a shrinking labour force.
