    Hi!

I just wondered if any of you guys have ever heard of Teletext Gamecentral (or checked it out)?

    http://www.teletext.co.uk/gamecentral/default.aspx

Basically, I find it to be one of the best sources for game news/reviews because I like the concise format, as well as the fact that the reviewers are balanced and don't simply buy into the hype. They give attention to obscure titles as well, which introduced me to games such as Ikaruga, Rez HD etc that I would never have heard of otherwise.

Apparently, all teletext editorial content is going to die.

Here's the petition to try to save them: www.petitiononline.com/SaveGC/

Yeah, I know lol, but I just thought I'd put it in there anyway in case those who don't read it were nonetheless moved to the point of signing the petition.

Is there any chance of it being saved?

I'm not sure how it works to be honest. Do teletext pay them?
I'm sure they could go independent if they wanted. Start up a site and try and increase their user base.

I don't know much about teletext, to be honest, but you can still access a lot of the teletext stuff on the internet.

Surely they could move to an online format? With the same content?

I haven't been following it that much (only heard about this a day or two ago  ); have they said they might go independent?

I'm not sure how they are paid, etc.

    Internet killed the teletext star.

I remember this from a kid. They had a letter section too, right?

    Indeed.

    You have evidence?
There is a general statement here: "Teletext will end in each region after analogue broadcasts finish."
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teletex...ion_of_service

Also: "It was announced on July 17th 2009 that GameCentral will cease broadcast in January 2010 along with all other Teletext editorial content".
