Why would you want a PhD in finance when most jobs in finance require a professional qualification such as ACA, CTA or the actuary/corp fin qualifications?

    Quant trading or research.

You'll be overqualified for most other graduate schemes.

And Good God, please don't go into accountancy with a PhD, that will be a waste of qualification there.

Lol going into accountancy with a PhD would be a massive mistake, the vast majority of accountants outside of the grad schemes don't have anything above GCSEs.

Something more hardcore technical finance like hedge funds or fund of hedge funds quantitative type role... Or trading. Definitely not accounting. I have completed several internships, including one in the top 4 and I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in the field.

I was just searching for any other ideas, if there are any

That's not quite true. In our group 3 of the 5 partners are PhDs.

    What is not quite true?...
The partners may have PhD in Accounting based finance. My finance is leaning towards portfolio construction and asset management with regards to real estate investments and funds. Wouldn't want to waste that on a graduate entry accounting role.

You're best asking this in the Investment banking forum. Sounds like you'll fit right in there
