I assumed you've gone to My Computer and tried to locate the PSP there and not just waited for the PC to do something?

When you plug your PSP into your computer you should have it on, and at the home menu, then once you plug it in to your computer select the Settings icon on your psp and select the option marked "USB Connection", the PC should recognize it then.

Nope, you just have to go in the settings and search for "USB Connection" or something and enter this mode. At that point, your computer will recognize your PSP (its memory card in fact) and will let you copy your movies just like you would on a normal external hard drive.

At the risk of being daft, did you switch it on? It'll only connect if it's powered up.
