I Guess it is harmfull as you don't have a filter for the smoke your breathing in. Shouldn't do you much harm though if your not out there long. Maybe take a scarf or something to cover up your mouth?

I think you will find that in some cases it can be as bad.

OP is it possible to talk to your team leader about this, and say how you feel. If that fails, stand down wind from it, as its outside, i think it is not as bad as what it would be if it was in a confined space.

Isn't it meant to be more because you are inhaling it but the smoker is exhaling it therefore you are getting more smoke inside you?

I don't know but OP I don't think it's too bad but cover yourself with a tissue or scarf or something or just walk back inside and come back to collect them when they have finished smoking? :dontknow:

Aren't they a bunch of pensioners?

Why would they care if you are wearing a scarf?

Just go back inside or stand away from the smoke then?

Well if you ever develop ashtma or a lung condition you could sue them for hundreds of thousands of pounds...

Definetly speak to somebody higher up and voice your concern for your health.

Just talk to your line manager and tell them it's causing you distress, and can someone else do it. It's unlikely to cause any serious problems like cancer (takes long term exposure) but short term exposures are irritating and unpleasant, and are creating an intolerable work environment for you.

Voice your concerns to your superior. If they do nothing, quit.

No they are different ages, I have to wear uniform on the wards its very warm most of the time even outside. I can't go inside they all have to be in eyesight. Maybe Im being fussy, meh forget it I'l just put up with breathing in the stink every hour and smelling, lol.
I put a tissue against my nose just to stop passive smoking on the street.

I'm sure you can do it in a Nursing home.
