I have my filter interview in two weeks for RAF Medical Support Officer, and I was wondering if anyone could confirm that the information I have regarding specialist training is fully up to date?

    Initial Officer Training

Phase 2 - an E learning package issued by the branch sponsor, completed within first six months as a Junior Officer. Also complete three week Initial Medical Support Officers Course at the Defence Medical Services Training Centre in Aldershot within in the first ten months.

Phase 3 - Content depends on the current posting, however most personnel would be expected to complete Operational Training Course and the ground phase of the Aeromedical Evacuation Course at HQ Tactical Medical Wing, RAF Lyneham. Phases 2 and 3 are completed in a total of 18 months.

Does anybody know if this information is correct and whether it is too vague i.e not enough detail about the courses or the timings. Also does anybody know of the likely postings of a MSO?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I am 100% sure you dont do IOT, instead you do a course called SERE (Special Entrants/ Re-Entrants) course, which you may want to look up

    Oops thats wrong.

Medical Officers - ie doctors, do the SERE course.

Medical Support Officers - who provide the admin support stuff for the RAF medical organisation, do the full IOT.

Regarding training after IOT. THe RAF MSO branch is really very small and it is doubtful you will find anyone on here who has direct first hand knowledge.
