    Hi,

I’m starting a law degree in September and am hoping to get some volunteer work on weekends/evenings at a law firm somewhere in my area (Birmingham). I was wondering what the best way to go about this is? Shall i just write letters in asking for some work experience/volunteer work? Or is there a place where there are advertisements for this kind of thing?

I have a friend who works at Eversheds one day every two weeks but they got it from continuing with work experience?? I did my work experience at DLA Piper, do you think it’s best to ask here as i may have a better chance or will anywhere do?

Thanks for any help and advice.

Well, I don't know much about Law placements (been trying to find one for Psychology) but I would go back to DLA Piper to make sure they will accept you first. Then if that doesn't work, phone around. You could write letters, but phoning is more direct and easier. If they don't offer work placements, then ask if they can refer you to one.
    Hope that helps.
