For designer/nice lookign glasses, where is the best place to buy them from? the opticians i am currently with stocks mostly womens glasses with a small section for men not giving me the wide range of choice i want and still charging me the price!

anyone who wears glasses, where is the best place to go in terms of selection and in terms of price e.g. 2 for 1, free thinning of lenses etc.

p.s i hope this is the right section, i didnt know where to put it and saw a topic on braces here and they are kinda similar. :p:

I got to a local opticians called D. R. Grey and they are very friendly and attentive. It's a much nicer experience than just being treated like everyone else at Specsavers or Vision Express.

Vision express are pretty good, the one in my city has a huge range of mens desginer glasses and the staff are really friendly in there- very helpful when choosing styles to suit your face etc.Specsavers are also pretty good, they have a big selection in there and some of their frames are similar to desginer styles but quite a bit cheaper, and sometiems they have offers like buy one frame get another half price

I steer clear of any high street opticians like Specsavers, Vision Express, D&A, Optical Express.

Instead, I go to a local optician who specialises in designer/high end frames and lenses. Their expertise is so much higher than any high street optician, even though they are a little bit more expensive, I know I'm getting a high level of service.

Have a look round and especially ask for personal recommendations off people who wear designer frames themselves.

I got some designer Ray Ban glasses from here:

    http://www.metsuki.co.uk/

Depends which ones you want, i think you should look around and find a particular glass make and model then look for where to buy.

This site is pretty good as well: http://www.smartbuyglasses.co.uk/

Specsavers was the best for me. I had help from the lovely girl who worked there and you can have either 2 for 1 on any two pairs of glasses or 30% student discount on a single pair.

I like www.speckyfoureyes.co.uk - if you know you're prescription you can get nice ones from there.

I get mine from specsavers because they give me some crazy discounts. Although the choice of frames can be fairly limited at times, but it all depends when you go in and what you're after.

There are smaller opticians everywhere which usually stock higher end designer glasses. My local one has shoddy service and the prices are astronomical, so I guess these are very hit and miss.

I get mine from my local opticians because high street opticians don't do as many brands as they do really and its a better experience. When I first got contact lenses I went with D&A and ended up regretting it and went back to my normal opticians who actually care that I'm happy not just taking my money off me.

My last 2 pairs of frames I've bought have actually been from a store in the US, I've then gone to my usual optician and got them to put my prescription in for me (£30). I've never got glasses from here but David Clulow look like they do a decent range of designer frames.
