Which is better for MA IR? Warwick has a higher ranking but does it really matter where u do the MA?

Whats so distinctive about each course and what are career prospects like from each of these?

Which would you choose? What would be the difference in studying at nottm than the other?

Warwick, I don't know anything about the course or anythnig about taking a masters, but I did a course a nottingham university for 4 days, I hated the university, the food, the city. But you may like it, good luck anyhow.

warwick, hands DOWN! because it's got better rep, better teaching quality, better for the cv and prospects. and i think it should be pretty diverse and international. i've been to notts for 1 yr. nothing special..

what about for the actual course-International relations? Nottingham appeals because ive had family difficulties and would like to back home. Warwick obviously because of the rep. But does anyone know if IR dept at Nottm is good? What about in terms of career prospects?

Nottingham is very good for IR, perhaps better than Warwick which specialises in British politics. The big difference people are talking about here is rubbish. They have looked at a couple of rankings thats all. 3 years ago (when i was choosing between the two) their reputation was virtually exactly the same (just look at old threads about this).

Dont let a couple of bad rankings put you off Nottingham. It has expaded alot and dipped slightly recently, but It was more successful and popular than Warwick during the 90's and early 00's and may very well be in the future.

Warwick is a great university . One of the top 10 universities in UK and very well branded.
Nottingham is good too. But Warwick is more popular. By the way do check the times and guardians ranking for IR ans Political studies. That should help

Nottingham is good. But Warwick will have a more global appeal

not yet, but the head of the dept did say there is a good possibility of getting onto the PG diploma and then you need 50% in all assessments to trnasfer to the MA in the last 3 months

Then I'd go to Warwick - from what I've heard it has a great reputation and the area is lovely. GOOD LUCK!!!
