I've constantly had low self esteem and I absolutely despise my appearence but no one ever sympathises with what I'm going through. I constantly get "Get over it" or "don't let it bother you" which never helps.

Can anyone tell me if they managed to get over their dislike for their appearence?

Well, you're not really ugly. You're just someone else's pretty. Which is always an important thing to remember. And anyway, we're all ugly. All our oily, fleshy bone. Either that or we're all beautiful. I think it depends on how you look at it. So, look at it this way: those people who think you're ugly are the ugly ones. Look at their souls. And I know this sounds corny and stupid. But when you look at someone who laughs at you, you get a bad vibe from them, that's the ugliness of their soul, looking at you. Obviously you're the most beautiful one of us all.

Dress sense, haircut, hygiene, personality.
Personality being the biggest, if you're really approachable, funny, kind and fun to be around, it makes a hell of a lot of difference, even though there will still be bastards that won't get to know you.
