Well I mean, would you count Brooks Brothers as designer...?

And to think if they saved a vast majority of that money they could have sent her to private schooling or university without the worry of loans

Still, I'm quite surprised at how much people can use up in their lifetime on such a small household salary with two children.

Does it really matter what people choose to spend their money on?

Most definitely not because it isn't worn by millions of wannabes. Designer brands I dislike:

    - Lacoste
    - Dior
    - Chanelle
    - Gucci
    - Prada

    etc etc

Designer clothing is a bit of a myth, the meaning has shifted over the years.

It used to be closer to what is referred to as haute couture but over the years the older designers started to expand their horizons and even license their names out. Designer now just means 'has foreign name on, moderately better quality' these days.

I go to a private school and have done for 10 years, although its not a very expensive one in comparison to some, my parents have spent twice that amount on me. I don't know why £150,000 is a shocking amount. Think of everything your parents have forked out for you, surely the majority will be well over 50k

They can do what they like. They can spend how they like, it doesn't bother me, but I retain the right to label them as disgusting parvenus. In fact, they're prolly not even that. They're not wealthy enough to be parvenus. They're just stupid & irresponsible.

I'd rather working parents (albeit even if they do display some lunatic tendencies) spoil there kids with cash they earn than live off handouts.

Seriously though, they need to get a grip.

Half of Alison and Stephen’s £30,000 joint income

    W.T.F.

    ******* parvenus.
Please use the dictionary to make sure that you're spitting at least relevant insults before you slobber us with pseudo-French: :yep:

    parvenu |ˈpɑːvənuː| |-njuː| often derogatory
    noun
a person of obscure origin who has gained wealth, influence, or celebrity.

Anyway, the problem is societally endemic, and it's thus very cruel, not to mention myopic, to merely pick out an extreme case and poke fun. But this is the Daily Mail, of course...

It sickens me how people can be so rude about an 11-year-old member of Britain's cultural underclass.
