Does anyone know whether candidates are sifted out between the completion of the initial online application form and the invitation to take the verbal reasoning test and online written exercise? In other words, are all candidates asked to complete the online verbal reasoning test and complete the written exercise or must they like your initial application form to invite you to take those tests?

The first part of the application process is merely to see whether you fit the minimum eligibility criteria. Namely that you are of the right nationality, immigration status and have the correct academics.

So, the answer to your question is, yes, some people will be sifted out, either by failing to meet minimum academic requirements, or being ineligible to apply by virtue of their nationality and/or immigration status. (The reality is those people should not even fill in the forms once they have read the criteria as they should know they don't fit it.)

The real 'competition' starts with the verbal reasoning test, which you complete first, and after that (and before knowing the results) you complete the written test which you submit electronically. Those that pass the verbal reasoning test with the highest marks, have their written tests marked by a panel (19-25th August) and those shortlisted will be invited to the lunch on 2nd September, ahead of the assessment days which take place between 7-11th September.

Applicants should hear the outcome of the assessment days within 5 days of the last day...so by 16th September.

    It depends on the department.
