Hi guys.

I'm considering a PhD, but I know that it is somewhat the stereotype that doing a PhD makes your life incompatible with certain 'normal' things, and I'm a tad worried that one of them is a relationship!

So just a wee poll for anyone who has undertaken a PhD, and what their relationship status was for the duration, and why.

I would't worry about that tbh. Being a PhD student is far more like having a job than being an undergraduate. It doesn't get in the way of 'normal' things any more than being an academic does.

I know several PhD students in physics, chemistry etc and they've all had successful long term relationships during them. Don't worry!
