I have just finished my summer internship and I am free until the end of the summer. I called up my local accounting firms but they said an immediate no Any suggestions of what I could do for the rest of the summer until uni starts?

Trade on the net? Would that be useful for accountancy (the sector I want to work in)?

is just enjoying it with mates and possibly some sort of cheap holiday without going abroad out of the question or does the rest of your summer have to be constructive

are you looking at 'career-related' stuff or just your own stuff.

why not write an article on something - I write about the markets - let's you give an opinion - nice way of finding stuff out etc.

what kind of leisure stuff are you into: a sport (do it competitively) - with me it's about fitness, motorbikes if I can afford it -but this summer is chocabloc with work, masters preparation, blog, forex etc.

PS. I'm not sure if trading etc. really helps you out if you're dead set on accountancy.

you could go to the library and get a pile of books out. Those'll pass some time and you could get through some of those 'classics' that people often feel like they've missed out on!

How about learning something new that could be useful later. One summer i learnt how to make websites which is a generally handy tool and also, it earnt me some money because i made a website for a local business and now maintain it for them.

You could also do some volunteer work (looks good on the cv) or get a job if you wanted a bit of money coming in. Or you could work at a festival, i think reading and leeds are still looking for arena helpers so you pay the £150ish deposit, go and work some shifts, you get to go and see some bands too and then at the end of the weekend you get your money back if you've worked enough. Good way to get a free festival. I'm going to do that next summer!

I'm watching all 180 episodes or so of "That 70's Show" to while away the days. But I can't really see how that'd be useful to get into accountancy, but, as you've been rejected for all your internships, I can't really see what else that's pertinent you can do

No not virtually, the OP has just done an internship so has money.

Would you have beaten a tracker of the relevant index (all share) after dealing charges and stamp duty? If not then it wouldnt be so great to put down!
