After doing years of Computing I have found that my English is not as good as it ought to be. I am looking to improve this. Currently, the problem I have (despite being pretty fluent in it) is constructing my sentences in a very concise and articulate manner. Rather, often I phrase my sentences in a very "wordy" manner. And of course I see room for improvement orally.

What is the best way to improve ones overall English skills.

    Thanks.

Listen to other people speak and get it from there.

Hmm... why are you asking this? Are you about to start an English-based course?

I would probably just practice, and ask other people for feedback on your essays etc.

No. Having fantastic English is an important skill, especially when it comes to conversing. For the most part, my English is good, I just need a few touch ups here and there by writing more concisely and articulately.

Yes, I have read them. Truth to be told, I admire his style of writing, he writes with such flair. The problem is, I just don't know how he does it!

how is it going with improving your english?

Guys, don't have a go at me for bumping this thread, I was about to make one anyway, until I discovered this (by searching).

So yes, any more tips? I'm pretty good at English as well, got a B in GCSE English Language, but I feel like my vocabulary is limited and decided to seek help from here!

    Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
