    The reason is that even though I would describe myself as a Calvinist Protestant, the anti-Christians usually attack the Catholic Church as a means of attacking Christianity as a whole because it is the most recognisable form of Christianity to many. This is why even Protestants have to combat anti-Catholic lies that many would have been perfectly happy to spread years ago.
