i have a feeling that whoever does review it will manage to cut it down quite a bit.

Okay, so I've noticed most people start of with "From an early age", but I don't want to be like "most" people, I am really struggling to get the start of PS right, any ideas with something else to use similar to "from an early age"??

Back when my balls hadn't yet dropped...

Your PS won't be approved or thrown out based on that one sentence. Focus on the whole instead of tiny (irrelevant) bits.

    A young boy/girl
My father took me to the city
    to see a,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,doctor"

True actually they said my personal statement was really good but they all picked up on the introduction and were just like  . I just quickly said to the Newcastle interviewers, "I missed creative writing" and they laughed so I was like  .

    Got rejected.

Can I ask what your childhood fascinations were?

I knwo about the new paragraph thing where you shouldn't use a space for that, or should I use one just so it is visible??? Also, in the case of starting new sentences, should I just use one space instead of the "proper" two???

You could use either - just as long as you aren't having to cut out important stuff from your statement for spaces.

Having lines between paragraphs is also good if you can fit them in - makes the PS more readable.

    Back to the question,
It doesn't matter how you start it, it’s meant to be personal, make it about you, so it’s unique and stands out. There's not right way of starting a personal statement.
