Hello I'm an international student starting college in US this fall.
actually I've just decided to apply for british universities after one year at the american school and just wonder how to complete the reference letter section on UCAS. i think reference letters are usually sent directly by recommenders. should i get the letter and type the content on UCAS?

Someone would need to confirm this, but from some of the international applicants I have spoken to before, I believe that you fill in the reference bit, but obviously you should seek a reference from somebody (a teacher or tutor from school/college) which you can then copy in. You shouldn't write the reference yourself.

I actually gave my UCAS username and password to the person who was doing my referencing and she filled it in fr me. Don't do this if you don't trust whoever is giving you the reference completely, though.

Alternately, you can ask somebody to write a reference for you and send it to you by email, along with their contact details, and then you'll be able to copy-paste all of it onto the UCAS application.

    Hope this helps

It's OK for you to cut and paste your reference into the form yourself - you have to give full details of your referee and unis or UCAS (not sure which, might be both) do contact them to check that what is on the form is what the referee wrote! You don't need to and shouldn't give anyone else your login details - not a good habit to get into for anything at all, ever
