Hey girls (and guys if you're interested!)

Right, I've got an important family wedding on the 7th of October. It'll be a relatively formal affair (not quite black tie but almost).

So obviously I need an awesome outfit

I'm just not sure what to get though. I'm going home for a fortnight now but I'll not be back until the wedding again so I'm sort of hoping my family will buy me the dress or whatever :awesome: but if I have to buy it myself then I can't afford something superly expensive and I'd prefer if it was something I could wear again.

I'm also not sure...October?! It's a horrible month! The weather will most likely be crappy. Is it okay to wear tights to a wedding though? I don't like my legs anyway but I'm definitely not wanting them out at the wedding.

So yeah, very vauge thread atm but basically I'm looking for ideas and as I find them I'll be asking for your opinions

I had an early November wedding a few years ago. I wore a purpley colour dress which came to just below the knee, skin coloured tights, purple heels and a thick pashmina to keep warm. But you could opt for a smart cardi. I can attach a piccy if you want

Oh...I wouldn't wear skin coloured tights :emo: I'd have to wear black ones but I don't want it to look too officey.

    They look awful on me.

My colours I love atm are plum, bottle green, cream, dusty pinks etc.

(ps - show us your pics anyway!)

This is a great idea. Also, you could opt for black tights and heels and then go for a nice eveningy dress?

Maybe something structured, like this, if it's quite formal: http://www.newlook.co.uk/1730352/173...ctDetails.aspx and there's also some nice (affordable) dresses on ASOS: http://www.asos.com/Women/Evening-Dr...ize=20&sort=-1

Haha okay, attached. :p: I think bottle green would be lovely for Autumn, or plum.

October is a nightmare to dress for, it could be freezing but it could be quite warm.
    Personally I'd get
    http://www.lauraashley.com/Dresses/S...nvt/md652plump
    or
    http://www.coast-stores.com/fcp/prod...ESS/2224668743
    or
    http://www.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/st...1722&langId=-1
    or
http://www.warehouse.co.uk/fcp/produ...ed-dress/12479 (although it's white so I'm not sure if it would be suitable-although I think with a black cardie and tights it would be ok for most weddings)
    or
    http://www.littlewoods.com/rf/p.do/w...48&pageSize=12

although if you can get your family to pay for it, I really love
    http://www.coast-stores.com/fcp/prod...ESS/2224668371
    and
    http://www.coast-stores.com/fcp/prod...ESS/2224669112
although I accept that they are quite expensive

I'd wear the dress with a nice black cardigan
    http://www.monsoon.co.uk/invt/530129...lerosandshrugs
    or
    http://www.lauraashley.com/Knitwear/...vt/cd114blackp

some nice black heels (make sure you can walk in them)
    http://www.jonesbootmaker.com/ebusin...id=308,mid=-1,
    or even boots
    http://www.lauraashley.com/Footwear/...vt/sl012blackp

    and some pearls.

If you're up for a rummage and want some surprise ideas, you could see if there are any dress agencies in your area. You could come across some unusual outfits at very good prices, and the staff would probably be able to advise you and work out what things both suit you and are appropriate for the occasion.

You could also look for outfits that come with a jacket and a wrap, so it's more versatile for other occasions and for the weather.

Edit: Warm, rich autumnal colours could also be versatile, and you could get 'solid' shoes - i.e. no peep-toes or anything that would look silly with tights. That way, if the weather is bad, you can wear proper tights to keep you warm, but if it's nicer, you could wear the outfit with more sheer tights.
