    A couple of my friends choose not to listen to music. I totally understand their reasoning.
    I listen to music but I do notice the effects it has, it's very seductive and manipulative of the senses, whatever kind of song it is.

    yeah.. its just referred to as that because of its long history, old civilisations etc. have you been brought up in england? if so, i think maybe thats why you've never heard the phrase before... although im pretty sure if you mention it to any egyptian they'll know what you're talking about
