I've applied for the full amount of tuition loan for my course starting this year, but if I get 3 As I should receive a £2000 Entrance Scholarship from the university. If this happens, what happens to the rest of the loan that I no longer need, as tuition loans are paid direct to the uni aren't they (so I couldn't just keep the money in my bank account)? Would I need to tell student finance to reduce the loan I need or will it be too late to change anything by then?

You won't get that scholarship until your a few weeks into the semester, by which time your tuition fees should have been paid. So just keep your situation unchanged because it is the only one which will fit your situation.
