What do people suggest as a stable ROM for the Hero?

I have Elelinux-7.1.0-RC1-Hero-v2.9 Android 2.3.4 on it at the moment, which is okay, but sometimes it makes all my apps disappear for about 10-20 seconds, and it keeps putting data roaming on. It's not the best ROM out there, but it's okay. Any recommendations though?

Why do people not just use all the far superior alternatives to BBM?

You'll need to register to view the forums and download the ROMs, but Cronos ROMs have been my favourite for a long, long time. Feeyo, the dev, is a machine. :yep:

I'd recommend Cronos Sense Eclair if you want Sense. Cronos Ginger was amazing when I was using it, but it's a vanilla style ROM.

the first software based S-ON release tool. Basically, it allows you to hack your phone. I'd advise you play with your phone as normal for now... see how you feel about it in a month. If you want to change the way it works then, give me a shout.

    K my HD2 is fine.

Got to play with the Galaxy Ace and the SE Neo today.

Both really quite good phones (though far too powerful for the users I was teaching).

ITT the new market really shows why Android needs GPU UI acceleration. Still, I'm liking the new categories (Trending, Top New Free etc...). I think my ideal market would be a mix of the one and the lists from the old one.

I just got a Win Phone 7 handset.

    ..

I have to say, it's exceptionally swish.

I'm pretty sure apps can have graphics acceleration (launcher pro has it appaz).
It's just not inbuilt in the base Android experience.

Yup, apps can enable hardware accelerations absurdly easily. I imagine that the market app does for supporting phones.

I remember when I first used a WP7, first thing I thought 'this is the smoothest thing ever' and I had an iPhone right next to me.

Launcher pro does have graphic acceleration. Work pretty well too.
