Have a look on the XDA Developers Forums. Though IIRC, MoDaCo no longer makes new ROMS, and so you'd probably want something else. Methinks I'll got back to non-rooted when Elcair is out.

    On another note:

Remotedroid lets you control your PC's keyboard and mouse via wifi and is :awesome:

That is great, using it now!

(on my actual keyboard) It seems to have stopped working and some of the punctuation shows wrong ( : shows as > ). Still good though.

Not the most stable thing, and I've not played with the keyboard too much...

All I know is that I can now browse the net whilst lying in bed. And yes, that is a euphemism for watch porn without getting up.

It works surprisingly well, didn't think it would be that good when I first downloaded it but I may actually use it for watching films/tv.

It stops working when I press the trackball, restarting the desktop program sorts it.

Remotedroid is incredible, but I have to turn off my firewall every time I want to use it. I can't seem to make an exception for it either.

I have gmote and it does the same thing fantastically, amazing when I'm too lazy to get out of bed, or grab my wireless keyboard and mouse.

Are any of you guys having problems with wi-fi whilst using the hero? I don't own one yet, but I've heard it can be an issue (which sucks).
wifi is ok but it feel limited by there not being an decent setting set for it so I can't use the wifi at my college cos I can't put the wifi proxy settings in but other than that its ok

I really like Dolphin. It's a good interface. Been using it over the default one and it works well.

Also, don't know how many of you guys are aware of it, but touch.facebook.com is better than the Android Facebook app, is very quick to load and reminds me of the good old Facebook days, where everything was so simple!
and I use that but I get annoyed cos it only shows the news feed so shows lots of statuses from my friends from yesterday.

I wouldn't bother with all that, just download an alternative homescreen.

PandaHome is a nice free one , no where near as good as Sense though.

Have any of you seen the HTC Bravo, looking to come out next year?

Unless apple brings out an Iphone 4G, it will be hard to compete with this phone.

Yup. Though they've underclocked Snapdragon. I hope that it becomes a variable clock speed. Hit 1Ghz when need, else idel at 600Mhz. That'd be good for speed and power management. :yep:

I love you guys. A few weeks ago Id never heard of Android or the HTC hero. Now I bought it (Hero) and it is unbelievable!

    a few noob questions
    - has anyone bought the case and screen protector? do you recommend it and from where?
    - can someone explain all this 1.6, 2.0, tegra business?
    - are there any musts I need to do/download?
    - I just put a bunch of photos (copy and paste via PC) onto the phone/card - how can I organise them into albums? At the moment it shows ALL the photos (including the ones that come wit the phone)

Only question that I'm confient to answer is that. Mine came with a screen protector but I went into town [cabot circus] and a little stand sold mobile phone protectors so I got one of those which works veryy well and it came with a screen protectors too. so Look around in town for them I got mine for £2.50

I've spent most of the day learning a bit of java and have managed to get my own application working where you press a button and it pops up on the screen saying that I am awesome. I am that good
