Trying to update my S2 to 2.3.5, but Kies is saying that I have the latest firmware (even though my phone says it's 2.3.4). What should I do?
Is it tied to a phone company? Some of them rebrush/add their own **** to updates, so you have to wait for them to do that.

Nope, SIM free. My friend who has it on contract with Orange was able to update his, and yet I can't!

Is it from Carphonewarehouse? My dad's unbranded, simfree generic GS2 from there is stuck on 2.3.3 still. CPW have no intention of updating it.

Are you copying to sdcard\music? Try PowerAMP if you want to test, that'll read everything no matter where it is.
I finally did it but wow it was complicated....

    1. Install HTC sync
    2. Link with phone via USB
    3. Burn the CD
    4. Open the disk drive
    5. Drag and drop
    6. Wait for sync

The hardest bit was finding the cable (usb)

Similar problem here. My S2 gave me a notification that there was an update available the other day, and to click 'update now'. I do so and it says no updated available, and I'm still on 2.3.4

Um, if you had the mp3 files on the computer, all you had to do was:
    1. Plug the phone in
    2. Select "mount as disk drive" from the USB notification on the phone
    3. Open up the disk on the computer
    4. Paste the files in the "Music" folder

F***ing sick of Vodafone's crap on my phone. I've got a DHD running Gingerbread and I'm wondering if anyone has any sensible advice on rooting the phone to get rid of it. I don't care if it voids the warranty either

Probably not. I don't think the Hero is amongst the supported phones. Only a handful of Samsung and HTC phones are compatible.
