This is an excellent idea, so I'm going to hijack it. Credit to Wings_cp for the idea and also to thefish_uk who had a similar idea which I never got round to putting into action :redface:

Helpers: Please post here if you wouldn't mind helping people write their Personal Statements (by help I mean reading over, giving pointers etc). Mention the subject(s) you specialise in.

Helpees: Please don't post in this thread as it will get clogged up and hard to use. Instead, PM the helper(s) for advice. I might start a second thread for helpees if their is demand.

In the interests of reassurance about the potential inadvertent plaigarism issues & that I might have a general clue about PS writing.. :wink:

I'm just finishing off my 2nd year at Oxford & have been quite involved in general access/admissions-y things. back in the day I also got offers from Imperial & Bristol. & critiqued quite a few PSs last year - but be warned i tend to go for 'brutal honesty' rather than sugar coating things.. :p:

What would be muchos good is if we could set up a second forum a bit like Ask a Mod but Ask a Helper where only the assigned helpers could see threads started by those who want help.. That sounds a bit complicated though.

Yeah, that's a system which http://studential.com/ have. Also you need to ensure "helpers" are well known and either have already applied to uni or are at uni to avoid cheating and plagiarism.
