Hi one of my best friends has one very crooked tooth, which has caused slight crowding in one of his front two teeth...it doesn't look bad at all but hes very self concious and wants a dazzling smile
however the problem only got to the way it is 2 years ago and in thinking about it hes just under 18 and so can still have them on the NHS if he hurries and decides...hes very mixed up about getting braces before his first university year....i've told him hel still make friends and stuff but he disagrees...hes starting to get obsessed about it now...and i wish i had answers to his doubts cos hes a very good friend so i just wanted to know what you all think about it...would you have it done? and what would you think of someone who has braces at university? thanks
From what i can tel i dont think hed need braces for that long....its hardly much wonkyness....well compared to mine....two top teeth stick out and two stick out at the back! lol
im so light hearted about it because even if people do judge you u shouldnt care because only decent people dont care about these things
its just one of his teeth has like grown inwards and so one of the front two at the top is crowded...and the orthodontist hasn't actually gven him much support either...hes told him yes he should have it done because they look untidy....im telling him he should get braces as long as he will be able to cope...but i dont think he will he's way too self conscious..and if anyone did ever make a joke...hed either crumble or crack at them
and the people told him two years because they will remove two teeth to keep his centre thing staright and will take time for the gaps to be filled in
no but at 18 he's worried it will hinder him at univeristy in making friends going out relationships etc.
i dont know how it would hinder then having friends.... or relationships unless hes going to a superficial university lol!! people know and realise that the after effects of braces do give people a better confidence and know that they will have a lovely smile afterwards..... i dont know how it would hinder them making friends as friends shouldnt care if you wear braces or not and in relationships i myself wear braces and i have found that this has never stopped me getting a boyfriend or going out......
tel ur friend not to worry bout it as at the end of the day he will have teeth like this hehe ^_^ xoxo

hmmm it is difficult when ur self concious.......how does he feel about his teeth as they are now...because if hes not too bothered i shouldnt worry about them cuz they aint bad at all.
yeh mines going to take two years because the teeth next to my main two top ones are going to be removed so im going to be gappy too!

he wants them to be straight even though most people although recognising they are a little crooked say they look fine. but he worries and the only way to get rid of that would be to have them starightened i guess.
My sisters friend has braces in and she is in here late 20s, she wanted her teeth sorted before she got married and they dont't look that out of place. I had them when I was bout 14 and I thought it was the end of the world but now I don't regret it at all, rather a nice smile for life than a yr or so with braces, (if that).
hey he has better teeth than mine and im already wearing braces.....he doesnt need them...... and doesnt need to go through the constant running to the orthodontist....or going through the pain of the first couple of times he gets them 'tightened' if he wants to fix one tooth tell him to get a veneer done or something..... xoxo

its like one tooth is hidden behind two others and has caused one of the front two to become a little crooked....
i wish he could just accept he has fine teeth but it seems as though he seems to have them straightened perfectly....and being his mate...he forgets about them for a week and then the next week will feel very conscious again
yeah i think thats the way for him to go too....just a case for him to accept two years of it to have two straighter teeth
hey he might not even need 2years of orthodonture....he may only need 3/4 of a year or 1 year with them on..... his orthodontist should be able to tell him how long they will be needed to straighten 2 teeth.... xoxo

he said because one tooth at the side is behind two others they have to remove that one...and to keep his centre line or something he has to haev the equal and opposite one on the other side of the top set removed too...so it would take two years to fill in the gaps left

alot more scary pics where thast came from!
it just proves i can go out, have friends and enjoy myself. NO MATTER HOW BAD OR WHAT UR TEETH LOOK LIKE!
the whole story with mine is that: FOR MY TOP TEETH - dentist realised that two teeth were pointing the wrong way (third teeth from main ones (were still in my gums) (2001)
- had FOUR baby teeth removed! (2002)
- had a operation under anathetic to attatch chains to those teeth in my gums! (june 2002)
- had metal plates fixed to the teeth next to them where the chains would be attatched to to pull the teeth down (august 2002) <<<tightened regulary
- had a retainer fitted to help with the process (april 2004)
- now my teeth have finally come down and im getting traintracks! (august 2005!)

ah rite......ya see i didnt need teeth taken out.... i just had to go 4 an operation to uncover all my adult teeth as my baby teeth weren't fallin out.... yeah thats what orthodonture is usually based upon is 'the centre line' between the front incisors and the bottom incisors, tell him from me that orthdonture shouldnt be shunned no way but if he believes he cannt attend every 6 weeks for his braces to be tightened that adds more time to the length of treatment and if he cannot fulfill that when at uni there is no point... xoxo
what were you saying about veneers?i dont know what they are.
is it possible to just get the tooth taken out that hides behind two at the side and get something else put there? because that would be better and i doubt his teeth would need to be straightened then.
cos its just mainly that one tooth thats the bother this one shown in the pic
