In what way "hospitable"?
I think they all take a contingent of non-EU students (is that what you mean by foreign?)

I don't believe there is a college that 'welcomes' international students more than the others, if that's what you mean by 'hospitable'. They all 'equally' welcomes them.

Hey guys, I'm an international student applying to Oxford for the semester of 2006/07. I really want to know which college(s) in Oxford is(are) the most hospitable to foreign students. Is there any reference in which I can get some information about it? Thx.

I believe that all colleges welcome foreign students warmly. Can you be more specific about what is meant by 'hospitable' or better still, which subject you'll be doing- in which case, we could give our two cents on which college might have a concentration of those doing your course?

I'm interested in PPE. Actually I'm a Chinese student studying IB in China and I just want to know which college may be more easier for Chinese students to apply for undergradute courses.

The fact that your Chinese *really* won't go against you. In fact, I may be wrong but doesn't PPE usually have a high proportion of international students..I'm sure RxB who's at Hertford said he's the only British PPEist in the first year?

I agree with the others that no college prefers/dislikes accepting overseas students and you'd be far better off choosing a college because you like the look of it. My own college Lincoln seems to have a lot of international students in my year; people from: USA, Singapore, Norway, Germany, Belgium, China etc. However, I'm not saying it accepts the most international students; I'm just saying it is the nicest/best college and that's why you should choose it! hehe :p:

Also, when the uni see international students, they see big dollar signs. So they should be VERY welcoming

There are some students from China doing PPE at St Anne's. Like Clodagh said, the uni is really fond of international $tudent$!

Apparently some of the poorer colleges (Mansfield, Pembroke etc) are known to be particularly fond of international students for financial reasons. No idea if there's any truth in that though.

which unfortunately (?) doesn't apply for EU students.... I agree with the people above, there are probably no real "hospitable" colleges to international students, it's more that some courses have a higher proportion of int'l students than others do.

fishcandygou - I'm also non-UK student (from Austria) and also applying for PPE 2006 entry! so, hi - we're in the same boat (except that we live on different continents  )

I'm not actually the only British PPEist in my year, I'm the only male British PPEist in my year.

But there's loads of international students doing PPE. Don't worry about college, pretty much everywhere's receptive.

Sorry my mistake then!

Ok, this may mean nothing at all... I'm not saying anything, but in the Christ Church college webpage there is not a SINGLE mention of international students.
I was looking for the "College Fee" which you all know applies to Overseas students, in the hope that being the rich college that it is (2nd richest I think) it would be low. They didn't even bother stating what international fees were (and they DO have a finance section).
But no, not a single "we welcome students from different cultures" or anything of the sort. I even did a google search  What I did find however, was a wealth of information about how they filmed parts of Harry Potter there, including screenshots and everything. (and we all know about this already anyway)

Make of this what you please, but me?
...I was discouraged from applying there because of that

They definitely don't need words to invite students- the college is famous and can rest on its laurels. My grad studies prospectus has colleges giving huge essays of the grad life etc but that of ChCh is rather brief. You can write to them though and ask your queries.

Of course it doesn't need to beg students to go there (few of the Oxford colleges do), but it is reassuring and welcoming to feel mentioned.

Most of the other colleges DO mention the variety of backgrounds present amongst their alumni and indeed many of them (take Balliol for instance) pride themselves on the fact that they have a large proportion of students from under-represented backgrounds.

Are there any special offices that particularly deal with foreign students in the colleges?

Doubt it.
