Personally I would fo for the history with spanish. Languages are more rare these days, and history gives you a wide range of skills and IMO is more enjoyable to learn about. Business and marketing I am sure would be interesting, but they are skills etc you could learn more on the job, doing business and marketing means you are basically available for most graduate jobs, whereas the spanish would give you an edge over other candidates and with history would open very much the same options as business and marketing, but also ones where a language or an arts degree was required.

History doesn't really open up too many job opportunities.. but you should do what interests you most. There's nothing stopping you from going into business with a history degree as the field is vast.

If I were you I'd try and find a Business with Spanish degree or something similar. But I do agree with PinkFlamingo19 about Business skills being something you'd usually pick up on the job rather than learn at degree level.

History.

It's seen as a more traditional subject, and still leaves lots of routes open. Historians can be accountants, lawyers, all sorts. The Spanish will open up even more.

In the business world a business degree doesn't necessarily give you that much over someone with a History degree in terms of employability. My dad works for an incredibly successful large property company in London and he's always told me how most people they employ don't have business degrees, it's the skills the certain degree shows you have that they look for. And the fact you have a degree.

business and marketing.

Thanks for all the advice guys! I think I have my heart set on the History route, but I will wait and see on my results. Plus, I think that Business is common sense so it could be something that I can pick up.

Business is the better choice.

Asking an Internet forum to decide what degree you pursue for the next 3+ years of your life is stupid.

You should do the one you feel you'd enjoy more, the one you have the passion for, not the one that may lead to you getting a better job.

Although, I'd say 99% of employers would take History over Business.

But surely asking on an internet forum is a much better idea than not at all?
I seriously doubt what we say on here is gonna decide his course for the next 3 years, he was just asking our opinion.

Thanks for that. Of course I'm not just going to take whats said on here and turn it into a life situation, but this is a student forum and therefore, it's great to get other people's opinions as I have heard things that I hadn't thought before.

I'm not a he though. Very much a girly girl. I'm called ducky because I keep pet ducks.

The reason all these businesses are in the state they are in today is because their managers had such degrees as history, art, languages etc. They also thought business can be learned as you go. They hired people with no business qualifications just to protect their positions.

I think gone are the days when you could have an 'accountant' with a history degree/ business manager with a literature degree.

If you want to get into the business world, do business.... it gets you to the top faster. That's why so many people are now doing an MBA to get to the top of the coporate ladder in any field. So why start the History route. Make your life easier, start the way you mean to go on.

A business degree is a mixture of all disciplines, psychology, sociology, history (management theory evolution), accounts, maths, marketing etc. People just assume you go to get taught how to boss people around. It's not that easy.

If you really like history, take a module or two. SOme unis allow that.

A business degree is acceptable in any field because all activities are businesses. Be is a school, shop, NGO, government. .

I think by all means feel free to take a Business degree as it can only be helpful, but I know for a fact that nowadays people are still employed on a basis of them having a degree, and showing they have the skills to get that degree, than on whether they have a specialised Business degree.
Of course a Business degree will be useful, especially at a top Business school, but otherwise I don't think you're dragging yourself down by doing any other degree, such as quite a universal one like History.

I would still do economics/science/maths if i wanted to go into business. business is a micky mouse subject, but you aren't exactly helping yourself by studying history either.

I don't really want to go into business afterwards, which is why I want a degree that can allow me to go into different fields of study. Really appreciating everyone's point of view on this.
