The advert used subtitles to explain what the three call center staff were singing as they munched KFC salads, leading some viewers to complain that it mocked people with speech and hearing impediments.

It ended with one of the women answering a phone singing, "Hello, emergency helpline," which prompted others to complain that it implied call center staff were unprofessional.
That's the worst bit. I mean I can sort of understand about kids copying the eating with open mouths but those two reasons are just stupido.

I just hope that the types who make these complaints are the people i read about in the Darwin awards who have accidents involving their testicles, a bolt of lightening and a staple gun.

Mashed up, half-eaten chicken isn't the kind of thing that pulls in the customers. It probably did KFC a favour.

Yes, and that's why KFC need such expensive advertising to sell it.

Lawz, you can look at this a couple of ways.
On one hand, Yes, you can say the complainers are a bunch of looney losers.

One the other hand, you can look at it as a set of statistical data points. with a margin of error, or a probability of false alarms.
There were 1700 *****ers, now assuming most limey's approve of good table manners, then the 1700 *****ers would represent all of Britain with a margin of error of about 2 or 3%

I'm with Farian on this one

    Lol... fair enough ...

I mean .. the table manners is one thing.. though to be honest if your empty headed spawn are taking their cues from KFC adds, then its time to get them an IQ test, and to buy a book on better parenting ...

The ridiculous part is the notion that people complained:

    a) More about this advert than any advert in history
    b) That it made fun of people with speech impediments
    c) That it painted a bad picture of those wokring in call centres.

    Basically:

    These people are morons.

That's typical of the sort of people who have enough time on their hands to busy themselves with complaining about such things...

    Proud of what?

That people are talking whilst their mouths are stuffed with food - or that people complained because of the portrayal?

I know there is a tenuous link only but.....

If we are desensitised to crass behaviour whilst at the dinner table - and I must admit that I would feel sick if someone ate like that in front of me whilst I was eating - no wonder we are desensitised to all other aspects of anti-social behaviour!

Just how much do we tolerate in the name of tolerance?
