If you're eligible for a Maintenance Loan, you can apply for the maximum amount, that’s based on your household income.
If your course is longer than 30 weeks and three days, you might be able to get a Long Course Loan.
Our guide to how you're assessed and paid explains how we work out what you can get.
You can get a personalised estimate online by using our student finance calculator. You’ll need to provide some information about your course and your household income.
The quickest and easiest way to apply is online at www.gov.uk/studentfinance once applications open. If you apply late, you may receive the minimum amount of student finance to ensure you have some money for the start of your course.

In your final year of uni or college you’ll get less Maintenance Loan than you had in other years. This is because student finance usually covers the breaks between each year, but you’re no longer entitled to funding once your course has ended.
