We're committed to studio-based learning, so every undergraduate course has its own studio space with specialist equipment, as does the Foundation space. Importantly, all our courses sit alongside each other on our single campus and, unlike many other art schools, are open access to all students across the university.

Accompanying the course-specific areas we have our multi-disciplinary workshop that offers everything from laser cutting and 3D printing to resin and casting and spray and dye rooms. We have a variety of traditional printing presses and dedicated spaces for exposure and acid etching in our Print Room. I
And in 2016 we opened our Drawing Studio, which was designed and completed by renowned architect and AUB alumnus, Professor Sir Peter Cook RA, and his office, CRAB.

On campus we have our very own museum, the Museum of Design in Plastics (MoDiP), which offers a specialist research resource for students and staff. Our on site Gallery, TheGallery is a major resource for contemporary art and design that hosts artist talks, panel discussions and an exhibition programme.

Explore our campus

We have accommodation available for Foundation, first-year and postgraduate students in our range of halls of residence located on campus and in the Lansdowne area of Bournemouth town centre.

Just as you’re not all studying the same course, we know our students like different styles of places to live. Each halls of residence offers something unique – with everything from modern self-contained studio flats to more traditional en-suite rooms in cluster flats, there's something for everyone.

Madeira Road
The halls are located within a 5-minute walk of Bournemouth town centre, close to shops, restaurants and bars. Bournemouth beach and pier are also within easy walking distance.

Campus Halls
New for 2021 is our Campus Halls. You'll be closer to your lectures and only a short walk/cycle to Winton – where a lot of our student community choose to rent.

Home Park
Home Park is in Lansdowne and travel to our campus (approximately 3 miles away) takes 20 minutes by bus or bike. The Unibus service stops right outside the halls and provides regular direct buses to the AUB campus.

Living Here

We’ve got award-winning beaches, a famous nightlife, a thriving arts scene, and outstanding natural beauty. There's something for everyone, wherever your interests lie.

Bournemouth is well-connected by public transport, which makes it easy to explore some of the South Coast’s highlights. The Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole area has good public transport links that run regularly. Cyclists can also zip from A to B with the local Beryl Bike hire service.

While studying here, you’ll have easy access to one of the UK’s most outstanding coastlines – the Jurassic Coast – it's famous for the hundreds of fossils that wash up on its shores every year. So, if you're looking to go a little further afield, there are major train and coach stations a short walk away from our Lansdowne halls of residence that will transport you to the New Forest, Southampton, London and beyond.
