Brunel University of London, founded in 1966, is a university located in Uxbridge, London, UK. It was named after the Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel.
The University is organised into three colleges – Engineering, Design and Physical Sciences; Business, Arts and Social Sciences; and Health, Medicine and Life Sciences. It has five major research institutes and offers degrees in over 40 subject areas. Brunel opened its Medical School in 2022, located at the heart of the campus close to all the main student amenities.
Brunel is a campus-based university, meaning students are never more than 10 minutes away from halls of residence, social and sports facilities, lecture theatres, or the library. With over 4,300 rooms on campus, Brunel guarantees accommodation for all new students (terms and conditions apply).
Brunel provides excellent employability support for its students helping them to plan their futures from day one. Over 95 per cent of the courses offer the invaluable, skill-enhancing experience of an industry placement, and all of the students have access to first-class coaching, mentoring and networking. Brunel is well-known for producing highly employable graduates. The 2023 Government figures for employment and earnings show that Brunel graduates rank in the Top 10 in London and the top 30 in the UK (LEO 2023).

What students have to say/Q&A
Tom - Aerospace Engineering MEng
Choosing Brunel was heavily influenced by its excellent industrial connections and strong international reputation. I’ve particularly enjoyed developing my knowledge of theoretical engineering principles by participating in various design projects. This will give me a solid foundation on which to start my professional career in engineering.
Denise - Biomedical Sciences BSc
The course addresses real-world issues, so I’ve learned to solve problems, speak in public and become confident about the field. I graduated with a first-class honours degree and I’ve won a scholarship for a fully funded PhD project at Brunel so my journey here continues.
Richie - Entrepreneurship and Innovation BSc
Running a company with a dedicated team in my second year is definitely the biggest academic highlight at Brunel. It’s very unique for a university to offer such an experience, and Brunel has been very supportive along the way of our progression.
Anna - Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence) BSc
The Computer Science department at Brunel is full of passionate lecturers who really care about their subjects and their students. In the third year we had the opportunity to hear from researchers and industry professionals which allowed us to see the theory applied to the real world.
