The University has ten academic departments, offering undergraduate and postgraduate courses in dance, drama, English literature, creative writing, the humanities, business, law, psychology, the life sciences, social sciences, film, photography and education studies.
Roehampton is also a pioneer in teacher training and, through its colleges, has provided higher education to women for longer than any other institution in the country.
Whichever course you choose, you will have access to study skills and career support from your first year, including our thriving career mentoring scheme, which pairs Roehampton students with our successful graduates. Our results speak for themselves, with 92% of our undergraduate students in work or further study within six months of graduation according to official national figures (Destinations of Leavers of Higher Education Survey 2017 results).
The University of Roehampton has modern facilities for teaching and learning across its beautiful 54-acre parkland campus. At the heart of the campus is the £35 million University Library, which opened in 2017 and has over 1,200 study spaces, private rooms for group work and 24-hour computer facilities.
Students studying Life Sciences courses have access to a biomechanics laboratory, featuring 3D motion capture systems, ultrasound scanners and acoustic measuring facilities; a physiology laboratory, which includes environmental chambers, electromyography equipment, a neuromuscular electrical stimulator and isometric strength testing devices. There are also a range of laboratories for biomedical and biological science and zoology. Roehampton also offers state-of-the-art teaching rooms for sports and exercise science students, which include mobile eye-tracking systems, neuromuscular electrical stimulators and magnetic resonance imaging technology.
In 2017, the University invested in fully upgrading its teacher training and educational studies facilities and in 2018 is investing in brand new resources and teaching spaces for film, photography and digital media production.
All new Roehampton students have the option of living in on-campus accommodation. There is a range of accommodation options available, priced at between £120 and £178 per week. The University also provides accommodation in central London.
All students living in halls are part of one of the four historic Roehampton colleges, which provide extensive flat rep and welfare support and regular college dinners and other social events.
At Roehampton, we provide a wide range of opportunities for you to get involved. We have a wide range of sports teams, with members competing locally and nationally in sports including football, netball and rowing.
We have over 60 student societies supported by our active Students’ Union – including a Film Society, Gaming Society, Christian Union and Islamic Society – and many opportunities for you to perform music or sing in one of our active musical groups.
We also have a diverse range of bars, cafes and social spaces across our four Colleges, who themselves provide a thriving year-round programme of social events, formal and informal dinners, and activities - whether you choose to living on or off-campus.
