Our courses

Roehampton students

Roehampton offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in nursing, computer science, dance, drama, English literature, creative writing, the humanities, business, law, psychology, life sciences, health sciences, social sciences, film, photography, digital media, teacher training and education studies. We are also a pioneer in teacher training and, through our colleges, have provided higher education to women for longer than any other institution in the country.

Whichever course you choose, you will have access to study skills and career support from your first year, including our thriving career mentoring scheme, which pairs Roehampton students with our successful graduates, and opportunities for placements across many of our courses. Our results speak for themselves: Roehampton graduates earn £130 more per year than the average UK graduate and £1,150 more than the average graduate from a modern London university (Longitudinal Education Outcomes (LEO) results 2019); and 93% of our undergraduate students are in work or further study within six months of graduation according to official national figures (Destinations of Leavers of Higher Education Survey 2019 results).

We are the most research intensive modern university in the country (Research Excellence Framework) and have been awarded Silver in the Teaching Excellence Framework.

The University of Roehampton has modern facilities for teaching and learning across its beautiful 54-acre parkland campus. At the heart of the campus is the £35 million University Library which has over 1,200 study spaces, private rooms for group work and 24-hour computer facilities.

We have opened a brand new media centre, which provides state-of-the-art facilities for students in our Department of Media, Culture and Language. It has film studios and editing suites, newsrooms, resources for photography and digital media and a cinema. We have also opened a brand new Clinical Simulation Centre for our programme in Adult Nursing.

Students studying Life Sciences courses have access to a biomechanics laboratory, featuring 3D motion capture systems, ultrasound scanners and acoustic measuring facilities; a physiology laboratory, which includes environmental chambers, electromyography equipment, a neuromuscular electrical stimulator and isometric strength testing devices. There are also a range of laboratories for biomedical and biological science and zoology. Roehampton also offers state-of-the-art teaching rooms for sports and exercise science students, which include mobile eye-tracking systems, neuromuscular electrical stimulators and magnetic resonance imaging technology.

We have excellent social facilities, including a gym, music rooms, one of the best university esports arenas in the UK. We also have a wide range of social spaces, including cafes, bars, prayer spaces and facilities for students commuting to campus.

Chadwick Hall, Roehampton

All new Roehampton students applying through the main cycle have the option of living in on-campus accommodation on our beautiful parkland campus. There is a range of accommodation options available, among the most affordable in London.

All students living in halls are part of one of the four historic Roehampton colleges, which provide extensive flat rep and welfare support and regular college dinners and other social events. We also provide new students with the option of a quiet room.

Student Life

At Roehampton, you will have the chance to get involved, find new interests and develop your abilities beyond your subject of study. You can play sport and music, join one of our many student societies and enjoy the cafés and bars we have on our beautiful parkland campus.

We have many student societies you can join, and our Students’ Union will help you if you want to set one up. There are around 60 in total, including a Film Society, Vegan Society, LGBTQ+ Society, Esports Soceity, Gaming Society and our long-running drama group, the Roehampton Players, whose former members include current West End stars.

There are cafés, bars and social spaces across our campus, including the Hive Café, which is run by our students and serves produce that's made through our thriving Growhampton initiative. Our Students' Union has live music, karaoke and regular Friday night club night, The Bop.

We have plenty of opportunities for you to play sport, including football, badminton, yoga, cheerleading and rowing. We also have an active musical scene, and whether you want to play jazz, classical music or get involved in musical theatre. And if you are interested in esports and gaming, we have opened one of the largest and best-equipped university esports arenas in the country.

You will also become a member of one of our four Colleges, which give you plenty of opportunities to make new friends, including formal dinners, winter and summer balls and other social events.

Commuting Students

We provide a welcoming community for all students. This includes designing our services and teaching to meet the needs commuting students. We have a wide range of online teaching resources, 24/7 online academic advice, excellent transport links - including free bus services - and facilities designed for students travelling in to campus.

The University of Roehampton campus benefits from being at the heart of a busy network of transport links, with around 20 buses an hour serving our main site and even more services to Whitelands site, providing links to Barnes station, Richmond, Putney, Clapham Junction and more.

We also have our own dedicated free bus service, exclusively for our students and staff, that runs from our campus to Hammersmith Bridge. We also offer a range of facilities for cyclists, including plenty of secure storage areas for bikes, shower facilities and lockers for students to use.
