We have a range of accommodation options to suit your needs and tastes, with prices varying from £85 - £143 per week. All our accommodation options are within walking distance of both campuses and the city centre, so you’ll have access to everything you need.

Travel information

Being in the middle of the UK, there are great transport links to the rest of the country. The City Campus is located opposite Sheffield train station and next to Sheffield bus station with complete immediate access to various travel routes, with the other campus about 20 minutes walk from the city centre. The city itself is served by excellent bus services – and the famous Supertram.

What grants/scholarships do you offer? 

We have a number of scholarships for our undergraduate, postgraduate and research students to help you excel in your studies and make the most of student life in Sheffield. We also offer a range of scholarships for international students, including automatic awards for India, Nigeria and South East Asia.

How much of an emphasis do you place on building workplace skills like presenting, project management and people skills?

We offer a wide range of workshops and webinars to help you build work-ready skills alongside your course. The Student’s Union also offers a variety of skills and training workshops from leadership to first aid and you can even book 1-2-1 coaching sessions to work out areas of development.

What's university welfare and disability support like?

You’ll have access to three dedicated support advisers while you’re with us - your student support adviser, academic adviser and employability adviser. Our Student Support Centre is open five days a week providing confidential and impartial help and advice on a range of issues related to student life. If you’re looking for an answer on the go, or just need help with directions, you can visit one of our Hallam Help points. We also have a Disabled Student Support team who help over 4,000 students each year and can answer all types of disability enquiries, assess support needs and provide support packages.

What social events do you offer when people first join to help people make friends and settle in?

Welcome Week is full of exciting events so you can get stuck into all things Hallam. From sports club and society socials to uni-level study prep there are plenty of opportunities to meet people and settle into University life at Hallam.

What sort of societies are there?

There are over 100 student run societies covering a range of interests from rock music and Harry Potter to campaigning, scuba diving and cheerleading. New societies are created each year so if you can’t find the one you want, we’ll help you start your own.

How far is the campus from the town centre and what is the public transport like?

Sheffield Hallam is based across two campuses. City Campus is in the middle of the city centre and Collegiate Campus is just a 20 minute walk away. The buildings you study in are surrounded by shops, cafes and restaurants with many stunning parks nearby for when the sun is shining.

Our great transport links mean that you’ll be in easy reach of the rest of the country, with many direct rail links including Leeds, York, Nottingham and Manchester. The city itself is also served by excellent bus and tram services where you can also access discounted rates with your student card - sometimes even for only £1!

How far apart are different university buildings, and how far away is the accommodation?    

Our City Campus is based in the heart of the Sheffield city centre, and our Collegiate Campus is just a 20 minute walk or short bus ride away. All of our halls are all in popular student areas near our campuses. Most are less than 10 minutes away from our university buildings and never more than 30 minutes away.

What percentage of your students get a full time job after 6 months of graduating?

96% of our students are in work or further study 15 months after graduating and 73% of our students are in Highly Skilled Employment, above the sector average. (Graduate Outcomes Survey 2017-18)
