Our accolades

We're very proud of our achievements over the last few years, including:

Open Days

Whether you're attending an Open Day or test driving a degree course, you'll see what we have to offer you first-hand. We run Open Days and other events at our Stoke-on-Trent campus, as well as at our Centres of Excellence (for Health courses) in Stafford and Shrewsbury.

You'll learn about the courses you're interested in, see the campus and facilities that matter to you, and our lecturers and students will be on hand to answer any questions you have about studying here with us.

To find out when the next Open Day is, take a look at the Open Day calendar here.

Student Life in Stoke-on-Trent

Whatever you're looking for from your university student experience, you'll find it here at Staffordshire University. Based in Stoke-on-Trent, students have complete access to shops, supermarkets, bars, and eateries for every taste and budget. It's also in the middle of everything, so exploring outside of the city is easy too. With a blend of heritage, local attractions, and vibrant culture, whatever you want from your experience outside of our University, you'll find it.

In Stoke’s largest shopping centre, students will find everything from designer brands to independent boutiques. Within the city, students can enjoy a show, head to a gallery or see the Staffordshire Hoard at one of the museums. In addition, there are many great student night discounts to take advantage of with a variety of drink outlets ranging from cocktail bars to traditional ale pubs to suit every student.

Facilities

When it comes to our vision for a city campus, we want you to be well connected. And that’s exactly what you’ll be – thanks to vibrant and dynamic teaching and learning facilities, convenient public transport links and incredible social areas.

Over the past ten years, we’ve invested £100 million in developing our campus. Take the shimmering, three storey Beacon building. A brand new, £5.5 million multifunctional facility at the heart of the University’s creative site in Stoke-on-Trent, it boasts 12 highly flexible teaching areas, IT labs, seminar spaces and a new café. Across the road you’ll find the Cadman Studios, an £11.5 million development housing industry-standard TV and music technology studios based around a courtyard.

Our inspirational facilities include new games design studios, newly refurbished flexible spaces and a large dedicated motion capture studio. We’ve also updated our social spaces, including the Pavilion Fusion cafe and the dynamic Mellor Collision Space, so you’ll always be in touching distance of everything you need to succeed.

LINKING YOU WITH CUTTING-EDGE TECH

Connections put a man on the moon and planes in the sky. Yet without state-of-the-art technology, none of this would have been possible. If you study in our dedicated £30 million Science Centre, you’ll get your hands on three floors of technology that’s at the forefront of scientific research and development.

A short walk from our Science Centre is our crime scene house. This is a real house we use to replicate crime scenes, giving you practical experience in investigating and putting forensic theories to the test in a real-world environment.

THE DIGITAL KILN

Our goal is for everything in our University to be digitally connected. That’s great news for digitally savvy students in our School of Computing and Digital Technologies, where we’ve spent £8.7 million on new computing and games facilities.

Called the Digital Kiln, the project merges beautiful learning spaces with state-of-the-art technology to support all sorts of digitally-focused courses, from cyber security to games design, to the open plan ‘Collision Space’, equipped with the latest technology for seamless digital learning.

The new facilities deliver a vibrant, dynamic environment for inspiring teaching, cementing our reputation as one of the UK’s leading universities for gaming technology. Bespoke labs for games programming, networking, mobile, web, multimedia, digital forensics, databases, big data and software engineering are further proof that we’re ideally placed to equip you for a diverse range of exciting digital careers.

WORK OUT

Our Sir Stanley Matthews Sports Centre is home to some of the best sports and exercise equipment in the city, following our recent £1.25 million investment. You can get up close with a range of brand new facilities, powered by locally-based industry leader, Matrix Fitness. These include new exercise studios and changing rooms, plus cutting-edge kit, from cardio to free weights.

AND RELAX

If all that wasn’t enough, we’ve refurbished our standard halls of residence with everything from USB plugs to instant hot water boilers, outdoor pizza ovens, Bluetooth kitchen speakers and extra comfy sofas.

See for yourself in our 360° online tour at: www.staffs.ac.uk/360tour. Or better still, come to one of our open days.
