Student Life in Huddersfield

The picturesque Huddersfield Narrow Canal runs through the heart of campus and the town itself thrives as a melting pot of cultures and cosmopolitan living.

The student friendly town centre is only a 2 minute walk from campus and has an independent feel with unusual shops, buildings, unique events and festivals. It’s a great place to express your individuality and experience new things. Huddersfield has close proximity to major cities and is surrounded by beautiful countryside, and is not far from the Peak District National Park.

Unlike some large cities, Huddersfield offers a relatively low cost of living, giving you more for your money and an inexpensive, exciting place to continue your education.

We recognise that you’ll need excellent facilities and resources as well as inspirational teaching. You’ll have access to state-of-the-art labs, specialist studios, industry standard equipment and new spaces to study and work. We’ve invested £157 million in some fantastic buildings and are continuing to invest.

Wellbeing and Support Services

We know that you may be nervous when you start life as a student and it can be challenging at first to balance your time but you'll soon settle in. If you need our help, then we'll be on hand to offer friendly advice, support and guidance during your studies so you have a great time with us.

Our Student Support services will be there for you when you need them. If you have a question about finding a job, sorting out your finances, accessing confidential advice to help with your personal or emotional worries, or practical support with an existing health condition or disability.

Find out about the support available.
