Bulk shopping to do before you go to uni

Why should I Bulk buy

One of the ways to save a lot of money on food shopping is to do some bulk shopping before you start Uni. Ask your parents to buy some stuff in bulk that will last you till at least the end of 1 term and when you come back during the holidays you can get your parents to bulk shop again.

However, do remember that University towns also have shops! There is little point in buying stuff like tissues/loo paper to fill up the back of your parents car when you can actually buy it 5 mins from your flat just as cheaply.

Also, ask relatives to give you supermarket vouchers/gift cards as 'going away' gifts. Save these for the end of term when you've run out of real cash.
