Situated in the superb location of New Inn Hall Street right in central Oxford, two minutes or so from Jesus College and Turl Street, one minute from the gates to the prestigious Oxford Union and Purple Turtle - the Union nightclub. One minute's walk from George street (many restaurants/eateries, clubs and theatres)and Gloucester Green (Odeon cinema and weekly markets). One minute's walk from the Clarendon shopping centre. One minute's walk from Oxford's High Street and Cornmarket Street where all shopping is done. 10 to 15 minute bicycle ride to Iffley sports centre. Roughly 10 minute cycle ride to the furthest libraries.

Accommodation

Accomodation for 1st years comprises of Matthews, New Block, and the Chavasse Building. Matthews rooms are very spacious and situated above the JCR, New rooms are fairly big, carpeted, have archways, and two tiers, and the eight rooms in Chavasse are enormous with very high ceilings.

In your second year you're expected to live out - normally on Cowley/Iffley road or in Jericho. Houses are rarely further than a five to ten minute bike ride away from the college.

In your third/fourth year you'll either live in one of the college's annexes two minutes' walk away on Paradise/Thomas Street, or in one of the newly renovated rooms on staircase IV. These are very, very big, with wood panelling and en suite bathrooms.

Social Spaces

St Peter's newly-refurbished bar is consistently voted the best in Oxford, complete with beer garden and darts board and just a few steps from the JCR. St Peter's has a very well-used, central JCR situated under Matthews block and next to Staircase IV. St Peter's JCR can be considered quite large (bops are held there). The centralisation is important as it means it's used very frequently, resulting in a dispersion of students when socialising. Bops are pretty legendary.

The JCR has a foosball table, a ping pong table, a snooker table, a TV area with seating, a quiz machine, two vending machines, lockers, sofas, newspapers delivered every day, and a large kitchen.

Library and Computing

Library

- Pretty big and a lovely place to work. - Consists of the Lower, Main and Upper library. Lower library is devoted to English and Classics. - Well-stocked for all subjects. - Contains 9 computers for student use. Colour printing is available. - Photocopying machine, credits must be purchased to use.

Computing

- The MCR and JCR have a joint computer room in Staircase 2 room IV. This is equipped with a laserjet printer, a photocopying machine and 12 computers.

Welfare

Henrietta Leyser is the head of Welfare for the college and will take up all pastoral issues at the collegiate level. The JCR committee comprises of a female and male welfare representative who are supported by their peer support team consisting of students in the JCR.

Atmosphere

St. Peter's is academically strong but equally friendly and informal. It's widely regarded as one of the most open and relaxed colleges, and is known for its sociability. It's very welcoming to freshers, and the people who run the college are incredibly approachable and hard-working. There's a very strong college spirit and camaraderie, and a pretty fierce rivalry with Teddy Hall (as the college song reveals...).

Facilities

Everything you'd need and more. Classic Oxford dining hall with wood panelling and pictures of serious-looking academics on the walls, big chapel in the centre of college, huge JCR, renowned bar, modern MCR, lovely library, well above average accommodation, and, as of recently, even a small gym. After a very generous donation, there is some drastic renovation work going on to refresh Linton Quad, but luckily only really during the holidays.
