Course details
Course UCAS code: M10F
Qualification type:
  • LLB, Full-time Including Foundation Year , Duration: 4 Years
Course Summary:
Taught in the oldest and most established Law Department in Wales, Aberystwyth's LLB Law with integrated Foundation Year degree is both challenging and stimulating. Following the foundation year, the syllabus of this course is identical to its sister course [LLB Law, M100]. The Bar Standards Board and the Solicitors Regulation Authority recognise the degree - providing a direct route into the legal profession. You will benefit from the experience and enthusiasm of our expert staff, many of whom have also practised as solicitors - providing a practical application to your theoretical studies. By nurturing ingenuity and "outside of the box" thinking, you will emerge from the degree with real-world capabilities, enabling you to shape your future and develop the career you deserve. **Benefits of Foundation Year** A degree course with a foundation year enables you to gain the knowledge and skills required to succeed at degree-level studies. In addition, many of our Foundation year schemes offer some flexibility within the subject area giving you more time to decide on a specific subject pathway. During the Foundation year of the degree, you will explore a range of subjects, develop essential skills such as research and critical analysis, developing arguments and self-evaluation. Foundation year students have full access to all campus facilities, societies and everything else that Aberystwyth students’ community has to offer. You will be supported by the University personal tutor system and have access to Student Support and Careers Services. Funding and availability of student loans are identical to all other undergraduates and you can apply for a place through UCAS in the same way as any other of our undergraduate degrees. There are few fixed entry requirements, but each applicant will be assessed on an individual basis to ensure that they are right for the course and that the course is right for them.

Aber is so amazing! The academic staff are brilliant, really helpful and encouraging to make you think outside the box, the uni is right next to a lovely coastline, so everyone goes down to the beach when the sun’s out to relax – a highlight of the year. The nightlife is also great, loads of bars in town and everyone’s up for it – you end up not needing the union (besides the legendary Bierkeller) after first year, there’s so much on in town.
