We prepare you to work with learners of all ages within the education sector and beyond. Youâll graduate with the knowledge and skills to work in educational and training advisory roles in a range of organisations including businesses, local authorities, non-government organisations, charities, museums, art galleries and libraries.
We believe that education is about change and we hope that you are coming into it to be an active participant. We also want you to be a thoughtful and informed citizen who knows about the world and the society in which you live.
Geography is about places and people. It is about understanding why 'here' differs from 'there', how people's lives vary in these different places, and how our own lives are dependent on people and places, near and far.
An ability to link environmental processes and social and spatial behaviours is a defining feature of geographical practice. As a result, Geography is clearly important in understanding todayâs pressing global and local issues from climate change to sustainable development.
**Combined Honour Awards**
At Bath Spa University many of our undergraduate programmes can be combined, so you donât have to limit yourself to one subject. If you choose to study a combined award then in Year One youâll start by studying both subjects in equal depth, then from Year Two you can choose whether to continue with an equally joint course, or a Major/Minor route.
**More about the Professional Placement Year**
A Professional Placement Year (PPY), traditionally known as a sandwich year, is where a student undertakes a period of work with an external organisation for between 9-13 months. The placement occurs between the students' second and third years of undergraduate study. Students can engage in up to 3 placements to make up the total time and are required to source the placement(s) themselves with support from the Careers and Employability Team.

Cows. Sheep. Swans. Squirrels. The Newton Park campus of Bath Spa University may as well be a zoo. Overlooking the rolling hills of Somerset, this picturesque, postcard-worthy place is perfect for the lovers of the natural world. All the essentials are here: we've got the general shop, on-campus doctors, the SU (with their unbeatable pizza meals), and of course the Starbucks. Everything is so close, you'll be able to roll out of bed and straight into a lecture. Campus is peaceful and tranquil most of the time, although you may be woken up rather early by the mooing cows outside your window.
