This is a cross conversion course for qualified nurses wanting to undertake training for a different pathway of nursing, e.g. convert from a Mental Health Nurse to an Adult Nurse.
Acceptance on to the programme depends on a number of factors, for example: initial field of registration, a 2:2 honours degree or equivalent in Nursing, the date of the applicantâs original registration and the availability of adequate resources to enable the applicant to join the programme with advanced standing e.g. vacancies within programmes, or placements. Within six months of completing their course, 98% of our students are employed in a professional or managerial position (Destination of Leavers from Higher Education, 2018).
The duration of the course will depend on your previous qualifications and experiences. The average time for a programme leading to a second registration is normally 18 months. Successful completion of the course will lead to a qualification in BSc (Hons) Adult Nursing.
The content of the units you will undertake will be dependent on your existing qualifications. Once you have applied for the course our team will discuss with you which units you will need to undertake to achieve this qualification.

Bournemouth is an amazing student city, with new club nights on all the time and a great atmosphere. The beach is lovely and the centre of student life in the Summer. Everybody is friendly, with a great diverse student body. There’s loads of places in town - try the Buffalo, a short bus ride away from the centre but with amazing drinks and staff. The tutors are great, providing interesting and dynamic lectures and offering a load of support and guidance.
Bournemouth is such a beautiful place and being so close to the beach is great for the more stressful times in a students life- but the overall vibe of the university isn't brilliant. A lot of people there are rude and uninviting which can make it really hard, especially if you move far away from home and family to be there. The staff create a friendly environment but that is where the friendliness ends at Bournemouth university.
