Our course in Adult Nursing, which is accredited by the Nursing & Midwifery Council, expertly blends theory with real world experience to give you all the skills needed to feel confident working as a nurse with adult patients in a variety of settings.
Youâll acquire a universal knowledge of the profession from highly qualified and experienced practitioners, and develop core practical skills in our interactive learning facilities and simulation suites, which replicate a range of clinical environments and allow you to perform various techniques in a safe and controlled setting. 90% of our final year students agree our staff are good at explaining things (National Student Survey, 2018).
As a nursing student, you will undertake placements in a number of exciting and diverse locations for 50% of your time on the course, giving you the hands-on experience needed to grow in both confidence and competence. You will also have the option to undertake part-time placement and complete the course over 3.5 years, which is great if you have commitment outside your course.
As a Nursing student, you will spend 50% of your time on the course in a practice placement setting, and the remaining 50% studying - whether at home, at the library or on campus attending lectures, seminars or working under the guidance of our demonstrators in the Practice Skills suite.

Bournemouth is an amazing student city, with new club nights on all the time and a great atmosphere. The beach is lovely and the centre of student life in the Summer. Everybody is friendly, with a great diverse student body. There’s loads of places in town - try the Buffalo, a short bus ride away from the centre but with amazing drinks and staff. The tutors are great, providing interesting and dynamic lectures and offering a load of support and guidance.
Bournemouth is such a beautiful place and being so close to the beach is great for the more stressful times in a students life- but the overall vibe of the university isn't brilliant. A lot of people there are rude and uninviting which can make it really hard, especially if you move far away from home and family to be there. The staff create a friendly environment but that is where the friendliness ends at Bournemouth university.
