Course Summary:
We are in the top ten in London for Psychology (Complete University Guide 2018). Are you curious about people, the mind and behaviour? If so, it's likely that you'll find a degree in psychology particularly rewarding. Our course is jointly delivered by the Divisions of Psychology and Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences. It is ideal for students with an interest in both psychology and sport, and for those who wish to pursue a career in the psychology of sport, exercise and/or physical activity. At Brunel, our academic staff are leading experts in areas like cross- cultural psychology and neuroscience. This is a four year thick sandwich course where you can benefit from one 12 month high-quality placement in a variety of settings, including the public sector and research environments. Students have worked in clinical psychology at St George's Hospital; the Institute of Psychiatry; community programmes for vulnerable groups such as Hillingdon and Ealing Victim Support; Royal Free Hospital; and Holloway Prison. Students have also worked on research in psychology at medical schools across London. Our emphasis is on the real-life significance of psychology and we encourage you to explore the relationship between the practical and theoretical aspects of the subject. You will learn in lectures and seminars, and in the lab. You'll use information technology to gain important skills in areas such as experimental psychology and psychophysics as you increasingly specialise in your own particular area of interest. As a Brunel graduate (with a second class degree or above) in Psychology or Psychology (Sport, Health and Exercise) you qualify for the British Psychological Society - an essential entry qualification if you decide to go on to postgraduate professional training in psychology. This programme also has a Study Abroad Scheme which gives you the opportunity to spend a term at the prestigious University of California. We'll make sure you gain valuable experience so you can develop a stand-out CV. Our graduates have found positions in education, mental health and healthcare. They work in roles such as assistant psychologist, forensics, mental health support worker, health and wellbeing project officer, healthcare assistant, lecturer, rehabilitation assistant, social therapist and support worker. Our BSc Psychology courses are accredited by The British Psychological Society.

Great staff and a mixed, international crowd of students and staff. The union offers plenty of great opportunities to volunteer and join societies that really help you experience new things and meet new people. The campus is really tight so everyone gets on and you’ll make loads of friends. Uxbridge is alright, campus wise, with Liquid and the Union doing most of your nights out and London an hour away on the train if you fancy the big city to do some shopping or the like.

The university is very friendly, there are a lot of events going on and the lectures are very in-depth but also requires further reading (of course). The university is huge so you are bound to make friends. The university is close to the town centre where all shops are available. There are also tube links to central London (Piccadilly line)
